Hi everyone. My name is Birdy, and I have so much love and devotion to give! My backstory is a sad one. I was dumped in a Walmart parking lot in Mississippi, and shortly after being taken into foster care there, I gave birth to 12 pups. A month later, Fetching Tails came down to rescue me and my babies. I took such good care of my little babes, and now that they've all been adopted, I'm hoping I can also find a forever home. I'm a laid-back pooch, which makes it easier for me to stay quiet while I recover from heartworm treatment. In September, once we get the all-clear, you'll find I'm a great walker, never pulling on the leash and making friends with every adult and child I meet. I also like fetching, playing with my toys, and chewing on bones. But my very favorite activity is being with my person, snuggling on the couch (but only when I'm invited) and helping with chores around the house. My foster mom says I'm the best listener and very smart. I already know sit, down, touch, and focus and am ready to learn lots more when you sign us up for training. I'll do almost anything for a treat, so I bet we'll be the stars of the class.
I have terrific house manners, can be left alone 4-6 hours in my crate, and have few requirements. I should be your only pooch, for while I don't lunge at other dogs when on walks, I really don't like them around and bark if I see one passing by my window. A grassy area is a must so I can lie down, take in nature, and chill so a fenced yard would be ideal. My foster mom describes me as sweet, patient, loving, extroverted, and playful. Do I sound like the dog you've been searching for? Then please fill out an adoption application right away because I can't wait to meet you!
Love and kisses,
If you'd like to adopt this dog, please get started by filling out a complete application (incomplete submissions cannot be sent.) Please note that while we take time to learn as much as we can about each dog in our care as possible, our bios are written from current observations. Though we do our best to share as much information as possible about each dog we care for, we are unable to make any guarantees on the future health or temperament of your adopted dog. Most dogs in our care come with unknown pre-rescue history, and information pertaining to breed and age are often educated guesses.
When you adopt a dog, you're not buying a pet. Your donation isn't a fee for your adoptee - it's a gift that helps us pursue our mission, save lives, and ensure we can provide care to all the dogs in our program.
