Howdy! My name is Josey Wales, and I am on the hunt for a loving home and some TLC in my retirement years. My foster momma describes me as the sweetest boy who is happy to lounge with my people and soak up their affection. I am a low-energy dude whose favorite activities include naps in my cozy bed and relaxing outside in the yard so I can sniff all the fun scents and keep an eye on the neighborhood (it would be a big bonus to have a yard to enjoy at my forever home!) I need a family who will continue to help me on my weight-loss journey: I currently weigh about 87 pounds, but my ideal weight is more in the 50-60 pound range. I am doing great so far on my new diet (though I make my foster momma laugh when I politely pass on green beans!), but because of my unhealthy weight, I have arthritis especially in my hind legs and would thrive in a home without many stairs to navigate.

My foster momma says I am also a smart gentleman too: I have good manners and am already potty trained, and I know a bunch of commands including sit, down, come, and paw. I get along with other calm dogs after a short introduction, but would also be perfectly content as your only furry friend. I think I would do best in an adult-only family or one with older children since I love peace and quiet so much. I am a loving boy who just needs a family or person to love! If that is you, please fill out an adoption application today!

If you'd like to adopt this dog, please get started by filling out a complete application (incomplete submissions cannot be sent.) Please note that while we take time to learn as much as we can about each dog in our care as possible, our bios are written from current observations. Though we do our best to share as much information as possible about each dog we care for, we are unable to make any guarantees on the future health or temperament of your adopted dog. Most dogs in our care come with unknown pre-rescue history, and information pertaining to breed and age are often educated guesses.
