Meet Kirby! He is a gentle, shy soul who is slowly discovering what it means to feel safe and loved. Every day, a little more of his sweet personality shines through - and it's been such a joy to watch him come out of his shell.
Kirby is dog friendly and enjoys the company of other calm, confident dogs. While he doesn't play just yet, we're sure that once he feels more comfortable, his playful side will blossom! He's potty trained and crate trained, and he's happiest when he has a routine and a cozy spot to retreat to.
Because Kirby is still timid and easily startled, older kids would be best for him. Around very young children, he tends to retreat and hide. Right now, he has a laid-back energy level, preferring to observe the world quietly while building confidence at his own pace.
His favorite pastime? Running around the yard and sniffing the air - simple joys that make his tail wag. For this reason, Kirby would do best in a home with a fenced yard and another friendly dog to show him the ropes and help him feel secure.
Kirby will thrive with a patient, understanding adopter who can give him the time he needs to trust and blossom. Once he feels safe, he'll reward you with gentle kisses and surprise you by hopping on the couch when you're not looking! He's learning stairs and continues to make progress every day. If you have a calm home, another dog, and a heart ready to nurture a shy but loving companion - Kirby may be your perfect match.
