*1 Year Old - 11 Pounds (Needs to Gain Weight)
*Loves Toys, Nylabones, and Treats
*Working on Potty Training
Ciao! I am Mateo, and I'm a little prince who desires a cozy castle and life of luxury after all I have been through in my young life. I was skin and bones when rescued, but thanks to my loving foster family I'm starting to gain weight and am learning what the good life is all about! I can be shy with new people at first; I just need a little time to get comfortable, so I would thrive with patient adopters who will help me come out of my shell. My favorite activities including playing with toys, chewing on antlers or Nylabones, and eating! Since I'm so underweight, for now I need to eat smaller meals frequently throughout the day to healthily reach my ideal weight. I do fine with the dogs and cats in my foster home, but I can be protective of my food (can you blame me?) so I should be fed separately from other four-legged friends in my forever family. I'm crate trained and am working hard on potty training - I hope my forever family will continue to help me master this important skill! Fetching Tails requires adopters of young dogs like me to sign us up for training classes, and I am eager to see how much I can learn with my loving forever family by my side. Word on the doggie street is you can get treats in class, and I am all about some yummy snacks! I am a good boy who has simple dreams: a comfy home, lots of treats, and loving humans who will help me be the best Mateo I can be. If you could make my dreams come true, I hope you fill out an adoption application soon!
If you'd like to adopt this dog, please get started by filling out a complete application (incomplete submissions cannot be sent.) Please note that while we take time to learn as much as we can about each dog in our care as possible, our bios are written from current observations. Though we do our best to share as much information as possible about each dog we care for, we are unable to make any guarantees on the future health or temperament of your adopted dog. Most dogs in our care come with unknown pre-rescue history, and information pertaining to breed and age are often educated guesses.
When you adopt a dog, you're not buying a pet. Your donation isn't a fee for your adoptee - it's a gift that helps us pursue our mission, save lives, and ensure we can provide care to all the dogs in our program.
