Hi there, future family! My name is Momma Schulz and I am a sweet, loving lady who is looking for a patient family who will give me time to settle in and gain confidence so I can enjoy a happy, love-filled life. I'm a mixed-breed beauty (maybe some hound and shepherd in my lineage?), estimated to be about 2 years old and 46 pounds. I am generally a pretty laid-back girl: I love to sunbathe and nap on the couch or my doggie bed. I would do best in a quieter adult-only home since I am shy and take time to warm up to visitors. I prefer people to allow me to come to them to be pet rather than them coming up to me. Once I know you, I am very loving and like to be around my people as much as possible; in my ideal home, I would have someone who is home more often so I am not left alone for more than a few hours at a time. I can be selective about my doggie friends and I would be happiest as your only canine companion.
As a former street dog originally from rural Mississippi, I am quite the smartypants and love showing off my brains. I have excellent house manners because I do not like to be crated and am also potty trained. I would love a securely fenced yard (preferably a privacy fence rather than a chain-link) to enjoy and explore. I think it would be great fun to attend some training classes with my forever family so I can continue to learn and gain confidence while we work on our bond together. My foster momma says I am a curious girlie who blossoms more every day: I am starting to play with toys and showing more of my silly side. Are you the devoted person who can help me shine? If you would like to share this adventure called life with me, please fill out an adoption application soon so we can see what life has in store for us!
If you'd like to adopt this dog, please get started by filling out a complete application (incomplete submissions cannot be sent.) Please note that while we take time to learn as much as we can about each dog in our care as possible, our bios are written from current observations. Though we do our best to share as much information as possible about each dog we care for, we are unable to make any guarantees on the future health or temperament of your adopted dog. Most dogs in our care come with unknown pre-rescue history, and information pertaining to breed and age are often educated guesses.
When you adopt a dog, you're not buying a pet. Your donation isn't a fee for your adoptee - it's a gift that helps us pursue our mission, save lives, and ensure we can provide care to all the dogs in our program.
