Do you enjoy the calm, quiet lifestyle and dream about a dog who can relax with the best of them? My name is Shuggie, and I am ready to steal your heart with my big smile! I am an Akita mix, estimated to be about 7-8 years old and 102 pounds, who is available for adoption through Fetching Tails Foundation. I am a laid-back gentleman who would do best in a low-energy home with adults only or older children who will respect my desire to rest and relax. I also prefer that my humans are home more often than not so I can happily nap by their feet with my favorite bones and stuffies close by. I would like to be your one-and-only fur friend (no other dogs, please!) so I can have your attention for myself. I enjoy spending time with my people on leisurely strolls around the neighborhood, hanging out in the sunshine in our yard, or lounging in front of the TV while we catch up on our stories.
As an older buddy, I have some arthritis in my hips and back legs so my ideal forever home would be a ranch house without stairs to navigate. I would also like a fenced yard since I enjoy spending time outdoors. I am potty trained, though I might occasionally have an accident here and there, and I am working on crate training. I am a pretty easy-going dude who doesn't ask for much: just a comfy home where I can rest my head with people who will shower me with love. Could you be that person? I hope you fill out an adoption application soon!
If you'd like to adopt this dog, please get started by filling out a complete application (incomplete submissions cannot be sent.) Please note that while we take time to learn as much as we can about each dog in our care as possible, our bios are written from current observations. Though we do our best to share as much information as possible about each dog we care for, we are unable to make any guarantees on the future health or temperament of your adopted dog. Most dogs in our care come with unknown pre-rescue history, and information pertaining to breed and age are often educated guesses.
When you adopt a dog, you're not buying a pet. Your donation isn't a fee for your adoptee - it's a gift that helps us pursue our mission, save lives, and ensure we can provide care to all the dogs in our program.
