Howdy, pals! My name is Stew, and I am an active, fun-loving dude who is available for adoption through Fetching Tails Foundation. I am a very unique, large mixed-breed fella (my friends think I could be a combo of Rottweiler and Australian Cattle Dog) who is about 2 years old and 62 pounds. I would thrive with humans who are experienced with active, strong dogs who will give me fun outlets for my high energy and work with me on my manners. My favorite activities include going for walkies and learning to play fetch in my backyard (a fenced yard at my forever home would be a big perk!) For now, I would do best in a home without other dogs until I work on my manners some more: at present time, I get too excited to meet new furry friends and overwhelm them. For that same reason, my family also should not have very young kids. I live with older children in my foster home and am good with them. Once I have burned all my energy, I enjoy cuddling by your feet while we settle down for the day.
I have a boisterous personality and my foster momma describes my manners as puppyish. My forever family needs to commit to working with me on training so I can learn everything I missed out on in my younger years. I'm fully potty trained and am working on crate training: I'm not a fan of going in initially (I would rather be playing!) but need to for my safety when you are away from home until I learn not to chew on things I shouldn't. I can also be reactive when I see other dogs on walks (my enthusiasm gets the best of me) so some work on my leash skills would be helpful, too. I'm a smart, sweet guy and just need some guidance and structure to blossom into the best Stew I can be! I already know to sit on command and am eager to learn more with your help. I think training classes could be the first of many fun adventures we pursue together! If an active, goofy buddy who will keep you moving and entertained sounds like the best furry friend for you, please fill out an adoption soon!
If you'd like to adopt this dog, please get started by filling out a complete application (incomplete submissions cannot be sent.) Please note that while we take time to learn as much as we can about each dog in our care as possible, our bios are written from current observations. Though we do our best to share as much information as possible about each dog we care for, we are unable to make any guarantees on the future health or temperament of your adopted dog. Most dogs in our care come with unknown pre-rescue history, and information pertaining to breed and age are often educated guesses.
When you adopt a dog, you're not buying a pet. Your donation isn't a fee for your adoptee - it's a gift that helps us pursue our mission, save lives, and ensure we can provide care to all the dogs in our program.
