Paw Care Tips Now That It Is Dog-Walking Weather

Spring will be here before we know it! As the snow melts and the weather gets warmer, your dog is going to look at that leash telling you they are ready to go on a walk.

Keeping your dog’s paws clean and healthy is an important part of your routine. Here are 6 tips on how to keep your dog’s paws clean:

  • Dog Booties can be the easiest way to keep your dogs paws clean and safe. It might take time for your dog to get used to the booties. Check out some of the best booties here: https://www.akc.org/expert-advice/lifestyle/dog-boots-for-winter/

  • Wet wipes labeled safe for dogs can be a quick way to clean your dog’s paws after a walk when the ground is wet, slushy or muddy

  • Baths are not always fun for your dog but nothing will get their paws as clean. Soaking your dogs in warm water with dog safe soap then completely drying them is the best option.

  • Check in between their paw pads because it can be easy to just wipe them clean. Gently spread their toes and clean out any debris.

  • Look for any cuts, scrapes, or dry and cracking pads while cleaning your dog’s paws is another opportunity to keep your dog’s paws in good shape

  • Keep a towel handy and dry your dog’s paws whenever they go outside or a walk. This helps keep their paws clean and your house/car clean!
