Bruno is a 5-year-old, 75-pound couch potato with a cautious, affectionate, and wonderfully goofy personality. His favorite activity is napping near his people, and his favorite place is wherever his foster family happens to be. He is happiest simply following them around the house, settling nearby, and enjoying their company.

Bruno has a few adorable quirks that always make his foster family laugh. He sometimes wags his tail while he sleeps, and he gets incredibly excited when his collar or harness comes out - even though venturing out for a walk can still feel scary to him. His beloved pink bouncy ball occasionally brings out his playful side, especially when he has a little extra energy. Because Bruno is a strong chewer, durable toys are best for him.

When Bruno first arrived in foster care, he weighed only 50 pounds and was severely underweight, little more than skin and bones. With proper nutrition, love, and consistent care, he has blossomed into a healthy dog who now weighs close to 75 pounds. Despite the neglect he experienced in his previous life, Bruno never stopped loving people. He is deeply affectionate and snuggly with the humans he trusts.

Bruno likes to begin his day around 6 a.m. with a potty break and breakfast. If his foster parent heads back to bed afterward, he quietly climbs in and rests until everyone is ready to start the day. He spends most of his time following his foster family from room to room and lying down wherever they are. He enjoys frequent trips to the yard and sometimes plays with his pink ball, but overall, he is a calm, low-energy companion.

Bruno is potty trained and is trusted to roam freely in the house when no one is home. He has done well alone for a couple of hours, although his current foster home usually has someone around. Because human companionship means so much to him, he would thrive with one or two adults who are home much of the time.

Bruno came into foster care very scared and timid. He has made wonderful progress, but busy neighborhoods and walks can still be overwhelming. He does enjoy walking once he feels comfortable, although he may pull on the leash, so his foster family uses a harness. A patient adopter who will continue building his confidence slowly and gently would be ideal. A securely fenced yard is strongly preferred so he can potty, play, and explore without pressure.

Bruno needs slow, thoughtful introductions to other dogs and would prefer to be the one and only pet in his new home. He is most comfortable in a quiet, predictable household. Although he has not shown negativity toward children, their yelling, laughter, and sudden movements we can tell make him nervous. A calm, adult-only home or one with older, respectful children would suit him better than a home with young toddlers.

This sweet boy comes when called, responds well to "no," and is working on "stay." He can also be a little vocal when he has something to say. He does shed, but his soft snuggles and sleepy tail wags make the extra fur worthwhile.

Bruno is looking for a knowledgeable, experienced, and patient adopter who will give him time to settle in and feel safe. Once he trusts you, he loves deeply and wants nothing more than to stay close. For someone seeking a loyal, gentle companion who is always ready for a quiet day on the couch, Bruno may be the perfect match.
