Mindfull Mutts Yoga

Mindful Mutts Yoga is a trauma-informed offering designed specifically for shelter environments, this is where rescue meets restoration. Through slow, accessible movement, guided breathing, and quiet presence, participants are invited to share space with dogs in a way that prioritizes safety, choice, and mutual regulation. This event will take place every fourth Sunday of the month from 12-1pm at our facility in Schaumburg.

What makes our Mindful Mutts Yoga program different from other puppy yoga offerings is the inclusivity of rescue dogs at all stages of life who are actively seeking homes. We also include proper dog handling techniques at the beginning of each session to further our trauma-informed practice for the dogs in our care. Dogs are never expected to perform or interact. They are free to observe, approach, rest, or opt out entirely. Humans are guided to move at their own pace, attune to body cues, and practice consent-based connection.

By fostering respectful interactions, Mindful Mutts Yoga supports emotional well-being, reduces stress in the shelter environment, and helps dogs be seen in their most authentic and relaxed state. The focus is not exercise, but rather in creating moments of trust and nervous-system regulation; for dogs and humans alike.

How it works:

  • Yoga will take place in our intake center. Bring your own mat (BYOM!) to the session

  • Receive a dog handling tutorial at the beginning of class

  • Engage in an all-level yoga class by a Certified Yoga Instructor

  • Time will be built in for free roam interactions with the dogs - take all the photos and help promote our pups!

  • Leave feeling restored and adored :)
