Harvey is a goofy, curious, and smart one-year-old, 45lb pup who came to Illinois as a stray from Texas and has been charming everyone he meets ever since. He's a happy boy with a big heart, affectionate and snuggly, and he doesn't need much more than attention, love, and a family who appreciates his silly spirit. His foster cannot help but laugh at his funniest habit: Harvey will wander into the yard, find his one perfect spot, and sit there staring at the traffic like he's watching his favorite show.
His daily routine is simple. He eats breakfast, takes a nap, and goes outside a couple of times before his foster leaves for work. He's fully potty trained and crate trained, and he settles well when crated during the day. Harvey has a high energy level and loves to run, play, and explore. His favorite activities include sprinting around the yard with his foster dog pal, chewing on squeaky toys and antlers, and lounging in a shady spot after he's had his fun. He's great with other dogs and enjoys rough-and-tumble play, though he does have a habit of going for their feet, which is just part of his goofy charm. He's also wonderful with kids and enjoys being part of the action.
Harvey knows sit and usually comes when called, though he still needs some work on leash manners since he can pull when he gets excited. He vocalizes a bit and would do best with a knowledgeable, experienced owner who can continue guiding him through basic training. His shedding is moderate, and his personality is warm, bright, and endlessly endearing.
Harvey would thrive in an active home with a fenced yard where he can safely run and explore. He'd love a family who enjoys outdoor time and doesn't mind a dog who plays hard and loves even harder. With patience, structure, and affection, Harvey will blossom into the loyal, joyful companion he's meant to be. His best-selling point is simple: he's a happy boy who doesn't ask for much, just attention, love, and a place to call home.
