Meet Princess, a 5-year-old, 16-pound little lady with a soft white coat sprinkled in black spots and one irresistibly droopy ear that gives her a permanently endearing expression. She may be small, but her heart is steady and sincere, and she is simply looking for a calm, committed forever home where she can finally settle in for good.
Princess is tolerant of other dogs and coexists peacefully, but she does not actively seek out play. She prefers a quiet companion over rowdy wrestling and does best with low-energy, respectful dogs who will give her space. High-energy or pushy dogs can overwhelm her, especially since her vision is somewhat limited. She appears to have functional sight, but she relies heavily on routine and predictability to feel secure.
As a puppy, Princess was diagnosed with a brain cyst and was initially believed to be blind. She was recently evaluated by a neurologist, and the cyst remains stable with no signs of growth or neurological concern. No further imaging is recommended at this time, which is wonderful news. She is a resilient little girl who has been through more than most, including a prior return from her original owner. Because of that, we are prioritizing stable, carefully screened placements to ensure her next home is truly forever.
Princess has done beautifully with an 8-year-old child and especially enjoys being read to. She would thrive with calm, respectful children who understand her gentle nature. Her energy level is low to moderate. She enjoys short walks, quiet companionship, and cozy evenings at home. Snuggling is her specialty, and she loves burrowing into pillows or tucking herself against her person. She finds comfort in mealtime routines and is highly motivated by strong food scents - pizza being a particular favorite.
She is currently transitioning from potty pads to outdoor potty training and will need continued patience and consistency as she builds confidence. She is not crate trained and does best when left out with supervision, preferably near her people. Princess would be happiest in a single-family home without shared walls, as she can be vocal with howling or attention-based barking. A calm household with predictable routines will help her feel safe and secure.
Princess doesn't ask for much - just a peaceful home, a soft place to burrow, and people who mean it when they say forever. In return, she will give you quiet devotion, gentle companionship, and the sweetest little shadow you could ever hope for.
