Princess A Little Dog With a Giant Heart

Princess is the kind of dog who makes you smile without even trying. At 6 years old and 18 pounds, this sweet, quirky little girl is a world-class cuddler who believes your lap is exactly where she belongs. Stop petting her before she's ready and she may gently smack your hand with her paw to remind you that cuddle time is NOT over.

Princess loves burrowing into pillows and blankets, snuggling beside her people, relaxing in the front seat of the car, and taking leisurely sniff walks. When she gets excited, she does the cutest little play bow and runs circles around the room. She even carries around empty water bottles like they're her prized possessions.

She's also quite the communicator! Princess has an adorable little coo when she wants attention, followed by a big bark when she feels her message isn't being received. She can be vocal for a minute or two but settles quickly. Because of her limited vision, she relies heavily on her hearing, smell, and familiar verbal cues.

Princess has a special medical history, but it doesn't define her. She came to rescue as a puppy with hydrocephalus and what was believed to be a brain tumor. A recent evaluation by a veterinary neurologist determined that what was thought to be a tumor is actually a stable, fluid-filled cyst that has remained unchanged for years and does not require treatment or surgery. She navigates her familiar surroundings remarkably well and continues to enjoy life to the fullest.

Princess is wonderful with respectful dogs and cats and did beautifully when her foster mom was away, happily finding a soft spot to curl up and snooze. She would love a calm home with someone who is patient, home often, and willing to embrace all of her adorable quirks.

Her potty training can be inconsistent, so her forever family will need to be prepared for accidents and continue working patiently with her routine. She may also howl when left alone, making a home without shared walls ideal. She needs someone who understands that loving a special-needs dog sometimes means making a few extra accommodations-but the love you get in return is immeasurable.

Princess has already spent years waiting for the person who will see past her challenges and simply see Princess: a loving, hilarious, cuddly little girl who wants nothing more than to be close to her people.
