Sweet by name and very sweet with her people, Sweets is a 3-year-old Doberman mix looking for a family who will appreciate her big heart and help her continue building confidence in the world around her.

Sweets is a total people-lover who forms deep bonds with her humans and wants to be part of whatever you're doing. At home, she's affectionate, cuddly, potty-trained, receptive to commands, and comfortable with the routines of a home environment. She knows her basic commands and is eager to learn. She also loves toys and chew bones and is happy to entertain herself. And when the fun is over, Sweets is a serious nap enthusiast who can settle in for some very deep snoozes.

When she's ready to get moving, Sweets loves long walks and adventures. She's currently working on her reactions to outdoor triggers like bicycles, cars, and trucks, so she'll need a strong, confident, and experienced handler who is willing to continue working with her and help her navigate the world successfully.

Sweets also has a high prey drive, so a secure 6-foot fenced yard will be required. Her ideal family will understand the importance of giving her safe, appropriate outlets for her energy and instincts.

Sweets bonds very closely with her people, which means being away from them can be tough. She experiences separation anxiety and will need a family who is prepared to work patiently with her as she learns that being apart from her people is okay.

When it comes to other pets, Sweets would do best as your one-and-only. She has shown resource guarding around high-value items and her people, so a home without other dogs or cats will give her the clearest path to success. She can coexist with polite, submissive dogs who respect her boundaries and has historically done best with males, but an only-pet home is our preference for her.

Sweets is looking for someone who sees the whole dog - the challenges and the enormous amount of love she has to give. She's affectionate, smart, playful, independent when she wants to be, and always ready to curl up for a serious nap after a day of adventures. If you're looking for a loyal companion who will happily join you for a long walk and then snooze by your side afterward, Sweets may be your girl.
