Kayla
Program Coordinator
Surrounded by animal lovers all her life, Kayla grew up with strong values centralized around empathy, compassion, and advocacy. While her career as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker has focused on these areas for adolescents, in 2019 she began her animal rescue journey by adopting a 6-month old husky mix, Denali. Kayla quickly learned that Denali struggled with isolation distress and would need her own “pet” to keep her company. Ergo, a 4-year old husky named Goose entered the family in 2020.
In 2023 Kayla and husband Shane started volunteering at animal rescues and opened their home to foster dogs in need. As of 2026 they have fostered 15 dogs with no fosters fails (yet)! Outside of fostering at Fetching Tails, Kayla is also the Program Coordinator for Rescue Readers, manages the social media account, dabbles in marketing/graphic design, and leads community adoption events. Kayla is guided by a commitment to the well-being of both dogs and the people who care for them.
Fun Furry Fact
Kayla's loves northern breed dogs because they weren’t bred to obey, but think for themselves!
