About
Amie
FAST FACTS:
* 1 Years Old & 34lbs
* Social With Dogs But Best To Be Only Dog In Home
* Working On Potty Training
Meet Aimie - a big personality wrapped up in a snuggly, attention-loving pup who is ready to find her forever home.
Aimie is dog-friendly with proper introductions, but she definitely likes to make her presence known. She can be quite bossy and vocal at first, especially when she's excited or figuring out the social dynamic. This isn't aggression - it's her way of saying, "Hi, I'm here and I think I run the place." She would do best with a more submissive or non-reactive dog who is confident, patient, and able to handle her energy. While she's still learning how to truly engage in play, she enjoys co-existing with other dogs of all sizes and genders and likes having canine companionship around. Her cat-friendliness is currently unknown, but this can be tested if an application comes through.
Aimie is still working on potty training and doesn't yet fully understand the concept of going outside, likely due to her past background. She can get distracted easily and is also learning how to walk on a leash. A fenced yard would be a huge help so she can be let out regularly for potty breaks while she continues learning.
Crate training is also a work in progress. Aimie really struggles with being confined and left alone for extended periods and takes time to settle when crated. Because she can be quite vocal when left alone, a home without shared walls is required. If a fence is present, a 6-foot fence is strongly preferred, as she can climb and jump shorter fencing. Aimie would do best with older children, ideally ages 10 and up, due to her puppy manners, including jumping, and her initial reactions to strangers.
She has a medium-to-high energy level and will need plenty of attention and mental and physical stimulation. She loves running around, chasing tennis balls, and playing in outdoor spaces. While she may calm down some once settled into a home, she naturally has a quirky, spastic, fun-loving personality.
What Aimie loves most is being close to her people - and she truly does not understand personal space. She wants to be right next to you at all times, leaning in for pets and hugs. Tennis balls, squeaky toys, and a good Kong help her settle, and she thrives on praise, affection, and being the center of attention. While humans are her favorite, she does enjoy being around other dogs for companionship.
Aimie can be timid when first meeting new people and may bark or approach them cautiously, but it's all talk. There isn't a mean bone in her body. Once she warms up, she turns into an affectionate cuddle bug who just wants love and reassurance. She is jumpy but responds well to correction and praise, and she wants nothing more than to please her people.
Aimie is looking for a patient, understanding home that will give her structure, consistency, and lots of love. With the right environment, she's going to be an incredibly loyal, affectionate, and entertaining companion.
